At the moment, there are about 40 thousand stamping companies (or workshops) and 2 million employees in Chinese metal stamping industry in 2008, which produced 28 million tons metal stamped parts, whose turnover reached 400 billion RMB, whose consumption of raw sheet (strip) steel up to 3mm in thickness was about 40 million tons and whose cost to purchase the stamping die and equipment was 40 billion RMB and 20 billion RMB accordingly.

The stamping process is used widely in many fields of manufacturing industry, while the figure, size, material and process of the stamped parts are very different among the different manufacturing sectors. In general, the stamping technology and equipment in China are still much more backward than that in developed countries. The stampings is produced almost with manually loading/unloading, handling. The quality of stampings is not stable. The production efficiency is low. It is very difficult to meet the demand on mass production and delivery in time.

The development of Chinese metal stamping industry in the future should conform the low-carbon, environmental protection and energy saving philosophy in design, production and consumption. The stamping production must be in high precision and cost-efficient. The stamping enterprises must be professional, large-scaled and globalized.
